An absolute determination of compliance, for most aspects of the LCME Standards, involves careful consideration and expert judgment. Accredit Consulting has yet to find record of an instance where a medical school was found to be non-compliant in a standard that had been carefully considered and where legitimate effort had been made to make progress. This effort usually includes outcome data and a rationale that supports that the outcome data demonstrates success or progress. Accredit Consulting provides, through onsite and on-call consultants, expert opinion on whether there has been sufficient effort to avoid non-compliance and the benefit of our collective experiences in outlining steps towards full compliance.

Accreditation Analysis and Compliance Consulting projects should be part of a medical schools on-going operations, as part of a policy of continuous improvement. A steady diet of examination, consideration and response is the best approach to ensuring a smooth accreditation cycle.

Accredit Consulting provides expert opinion, outside perspective, and best practice processes to identify and address compliance issues and help establish the practices of continuous improvement. This work should begin well before the regular accreditation process, as it can take years to make changes to curriculum, admissions or other aspects of the program and then record the results (see diagram above).

Recent Accredit Consulting engagements have addressed issues with learning objectives, long-term effectiveness, space planning, assessment, governance, faculty training and affiliation agreements.
