Accredit Consulting uses a style sheet that draws from the Chicago Manual of Style and The New York Times Manual of Style and Usage that we customize for each client. The following are some recent statistics from our work editing reports where there was no style sheet applied before the writing began:

  • The Quality Control checklist included 157 variations in spelling, punctuation, formatting and capitalization that had to be reviewed and corrected in each document.
  • There were 15 different versions of the name of the medical school used by different authors (i.e. __ medical school, ___ School of Medicine, ___ University Medical School, etc.) resulting in over 1,000 edits.
  • The reformatting and recreation of charts and graphs that were unusable added 40 hours to the project.

The LCME Database and Reports will comprise the information, analysis, and opinions of many of your best and brightest faculty, staff, and students but it doesn't have to include all of their writing styles or quirks. While the various Subcommittees and the Task Force can effectively make many determinations, it may be best to capture and document their work with a professional writer.

The Site Visitors have a very difficult job to do and an immense amount of data to synthesize. It will be easier for them to fully understand your institution if the data and analysis is presented in the most consistent and professional manner possible.
